An oil spill, apparently from a broken pipeline, has dumped toxic oil waste onto more than 100 acres in Alberta, Canada.

The spill, at over 2.5 million gallons, has apparently killed “a broad strip of trees,” according to a local report.

The pipeline is operated by Apache Corp., which is working on remediation before determining how the spill occurred. A local First Nation group says the spill may have started in the winter.
