TEQUILA, BIKES AND OSKAR BLUES Ever wish you could combine the judgement-impairing effects of tequila with big-ticket purchases like a bike? Well, starting New Year’s Eve, you can, thanks to the opening of Oskar Blues’ newest restaurant, CyclHOPS bike CAN-Tina, which will be both a boozeterium and a retail outlet for the company’s REEB brand of bicycles. And since we know you were wondering, yes, there will also be tacos.

According to a press release, “The CyclHOPS CAN-tina will seat up to 300 people and will offer up 20 craft beers on tap as well as 43 premium tequilas in the CAN-tina’s tequila tasting room. The restaurant will bring a little bit of southof-the-border soul to Colorado with a tequila tiki bar, handmade tortillas and a menu featuring fresh, fast combinations inspired by authentic and traditional taco-makin’ techniques.”

Cyclhops Bike CANtina will be open starting 10 a.m. Dec. 31, with a grand opening party kicking off at 8 p.m. at 600 S. Airport Road in Longmont. The party is B.Y.O.H. (bring your own helmet).

NEW YEARS EVE, SHAKEN NOT STIRRED The Hotel Boulderado is swanking up New Year’s Eve with a James Bond themed evening.

The black tie event will feature dinner, dancing and more, with tickets ranging from $60 to $249, depending on how fancy you want Q to make your New Year’s experience. There will also be party favors and “Bond Bites,” which we assume are appetizers, not surprise attacks from a giant Jawsesque man with metal teeth that roams around the party biting people.

MODMARKET LANDS AWARD Modmarket, which recently opened a location in Longmont, has been named one of only five “2013 Hot Concept” winners by Nation’s Restaurant News, a trade publication that covers the U.S. restaurant industry.

According to the publication, “Hot Concepts” recognizes “forward-thinking companies at the leading edge of food service that are also exhibiting strong potential for growth.”

Anthony Pigliacampo, Modmarket co-founder, says the company, which has six locations across the Front Range, plans to open six more restaurants in the area in the coming year.

The Longmont Modmarket, which is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., is located at 700 Ken Pratt Blvd., Suite 100. Its Boulder store is located at 1600 28th St., #1212.

ODELL, HEAD FOR THE HILLS TEAM UP Odell Brewing Company and Head for the Hills have collaborated on a special re-release of “Head for the Hills – Colorado Amber Ale.”

The special draft release beer will be available at Head for the Hills’ New Year’s Eve performance on Dec. 31 at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins.

The two organizations initially came together earlier in 2013 to partner on the special beer, allowing the public vote on it and select the custom tap handle artwork. The two re-visited the concept in early December for hands-on brewing experience at Odell on the brewery’s pilot brewing system and brought a film crew to capture the day’s events.

Brent Cordle, Odell’s pilot brew & barrel aging manager, says, “This collaboration beer is an amber ale with a hoppy attitude, dry-hopped with American hop varieties, giving the full-bodied style, a big fruity aroma, a creamy white head and great mouth feel.”
