Thursday, April 24 Shatner’s World 7:30 p.m. Cinemark Century, 1700 29th St., Boulder, 303-444-0583

Despite authoring novels, releasing hit records and continuing to act, William Shatner’s post-Star Trek career — and occasionally even the man himself — was largely written off as a joke. Yet at the same time, he remained an icon of American culture. That tension made for an unusual life and a complicated creative process that eventually lead Shatner back to the limelight to be appreciated for all his talent as a performer.

That stress, that back and forth, is chronicled in Shatner’s one man show, Shatner’s World, which is being telecast to multiple Colorado movie theaters this week, including the Century in Boulder.

“I’ve been killed 19 times, and yet I am still standing in front of you ready to go,” he says in the show.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be someone that people ask for help whenever a meteor threatens the earth, despite your skill set resting more in beat poetry than astrophysics, this is the show for you.
