National Eating Disorders Week

The University of Colorado at Boulder is hosting a week of events geared towards eating disorder education.

On Monday, Feb. 22, from noon to 1 p.m., a panel of experts will share its knowledge on the subject in the University Memorial Center, Room 425. Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund, will speak about her struggles with eating disorders at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Math 100. A screening of the film America the Beautiful, which examines our country’s focus on beauty, will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. (location to be determined). A seminar called “How to Help a Friend,” which will offer advice on assisting loved ones through eating disorders, will take place at noon on Thursday, Feb. 25, in UMC 425. Finally, Jenni Schaefer, the author of Life Without Ed and Goodbye Ed, Hello Me, will speak on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. in Humanities 150.

SourFest at Avery Brewery

In a gathering of some of the top brewers in the country, Avery Brewery will offer a sampling of more than 60 sour, wild and brett beers.

The event, which will take place from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Avery Brewing Company, is expected to be the largest gathering of sour ales in the country.

Attendees will receive 20 samples as well as a free full-size tasting snifter to commemorate the occasion. Tickets are $35.
