A … brief … address of the council

A Boulder police officer providing security during a Boulder City Council meeting on Tuesday arrested a 44-year-old male after he removed his clothing and, clad only his boxer shorts, approached the podium.

He proceeded to address council members in an inappropriate manner and refused to stop when asked to do so by the mayor, the report says.

City council then requested that the man be removed from the room, the report said. The officer asked the suspect to leave the room twice; he declined and was escorted out by the officer.

He was charged with obstructing a police officer and trespassing.

Glass slasher

Boulder police were dispatched to the 700 block of Mohawk on the report of an assault.

A manager reported that he was attacked while he was investigating a water leak in an apartment. Officers discovered that the same suspect had assaulted another male earlier in the evening, at the same location, by slashing that victim with a broken piece of glass, causing a cut to his hand.

The 27-year-old male was arrested and charged with second- and third-degree assault.

Burglaries solved

Boulder police arrested five juveniles and one adult suspected of robbing 29 houses and apartments and stealing nearly $100,000 in property between July 2008 and March 2009.

One adult suspect remains at large.

The suspects mostly targeted electronics, including televisions, laptops, gaming systems and iPods. In some cases, they tried to determine if anyone was home by knocking on doors under false pretenses. If no one answered the door, they would either force entry or enter the residences through unlocked doors and garages. According to the report, the suspects often rode their bikes or vehicles around the city at dusk, looking through windows for the illumination of flat-screen television sets.

Investigators made progress in the cases last spring after arresting one of the suspects. As a result of negotiations with prosecutors, that suspect provided information about the burglaries.
