2010 Colorado governor/senate races

Hick is the pick; Bennet in lead for Senate

As of press time Tuesday night, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper had a commanding lead over his closest competitor, Tom Tancredo, in the Colorado governor’s race.  Media outlets have already declared the Democrat the projected winner, Hickenlooper has delivered an acceptance speech, and Tancredo had given a concession speech.

The only remaining question seemed to be whether Republican Dan Maes would muster enough votes to exceed the 10 percent mark and ensure that Republicans wouldn’t be saddled with third-party status in the 2012 election.

The Senate race was a bit tighter, with incumbent Michael Bennet, a Democrat, leading challenger Ken Buck by a margin of 50 percent to 45 percent.
