Alfalfa’s to open on Earth Day

Boulder’s newly revamped Alfalfa’s Market will officially open for business on Earth Day, April 22.

Originally founded as the Pearl Street Market in 1979, Alfalfa’s became a leading provider of natural and organic foods during the 1980s and 1990s. It was acquired by Wild Oats Markets in 1996, and — 15 years later — is now returning to its roots.

The store, located at its original spot on Broadway and Arapahoe, will open at 7:30 a.m. that day.

New lunch menu at Islands

Islands Restaurant in the Twenty Ninth Street mall in Boulder has rolled out a new lunch menu that starts at $5.95.

Available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the lunch menu includes Islands’ Big Wave with Cheese (and fries), Northshore Tacos, Shorebird, Jungle Caesar Salad and a soup and salad combo.

The restaurant is located at 1855 29th St.

Chipotle offers golden opportunity

In what it is calling the “Wrap What You Love” contest, Chipotle Mexican Grill is encouraging customers to wrap something they love in gold or silver foil, then upload a photograph to its website at chipotle. com/gold.

Entries with the most “love” votes at the end of each week will receive 24-karat gold Chipotle coins, and the company will donate $1 to familyfarm.org for every vote (up to $150,000). The grand prize winner will be awarded $10,000.

The contest runs through May 8.
