Twisted Pine hosts benefit

Twisted
Pine Brewing Company will be hosting a benefit for the Nielsen family, victims of
a drunk driving accident, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 10.

For every
pint sold at the benefit, Twisted Pine will donate $1 to the family.

A silent
auction will also take place during the benefit, as well as brewery Olympics,
where teams of three to six people compete in events like beer trivia,
chug-offs, and relay races. The Brewing Olympics will begin at 2 p.m.

Gabriel
Nielsen, 33, was killed in a hit-and-run accident on June 25 when a drunk
driver struck his Nissan on Nelson Road east of 63rd Street, according to
reports.

Nielsen’s
sister, 35-year-old Cherish Francis, and his 2-year-old daughter, Avery
Nielsen, were seriously injured in the crash.

Nielsen
had been to Twisted Pine’s Ale House a few times, and the brewing company is
holding this benefit to help his family cover medical expenses from the
accident, says Emily Valenta, Ale House manager.

Twisted
Pine Ale House is located at 3201 Walnut St., Suite A, in Boulder.
