A male in his mid-50s is in unknown condition after he
was pulled from Boulder Creek near the Boulder County Justice Center early this
afternoon. However, police suggest that the man is alive.

Police say it was unclear how the unidentified man entered
the water just southwest of 6th Street and Canyon Boulevard. Boulder Police
Cmdr. Carey Weinheimer said several kids nearby “heard him splashing in the
water” and alerted adult bystanders, who performed CPR and called 911 at 12:48
p.m.

A witness on the scene said he was passing by and saw people
administering CPR for more than 10 minutes.

But Boulder Police Public Information Officer Kim Kobel suggests the man is alive. The police
aren’t releasing his name, she said, but “He is being treated at Boulder
Community Hospital.”

“We don’t know for sure how he got in,” Weinheimer said at the scene. “No one saw him get in voluntarily or
otherwise.”

Weinheimer said the man was transported to Boulder Community
Hospital by paramedics. The hospital cannot release a patient’s condition
without his or her name, hospital spokesman Rich Sheehan said.
