Last night in New Orleans, the Flaming Lips finished their eighth live show of the day, thus stealing Jay-Z’s Guinness World Record for the most shows in multiple cities in a 24-hour period.
The Lips began their record-breaking journey by playing a show in
Memphis on Wednesday, following that up with a string of gigs along the
Mississippi River Delta. By the time the Wayne Coyne-led band wrapped up
in New Orleans, they were presented a certificate marking their achievement. In a statement, Coyne described the feat as “an absurd joy.”
