Chemical plants that process and produce deadly toxins are closer than a lot of Americans probably think — and they could be closer to danger, too.
Across the country, chemical companies like Chevron operate plants that use deadly toxic chemicals, and regulations have never been fully implemented by the EPA. Many of these plants could affect millions of people if a disaster were to occur.
While President Obama has called for tougher legislation, the EPA could act now under the Clean Air Act to increase safety at the plants and reduce the chance of a deadly spill, leak or explosion.
