A Massachusetts man must pay a $675,000 fine for downloading songs illegally, a federal judge ruled, upholding a penalty at the “low end of the range for willful infringement,” reports CNET.
Joel Tenenbaum had requested a new trial for downloading 31 songs illegally in a case that’s lasted four years. Back when he was a student at Boston University, Tenenbaum was hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit by major record companies that accused him of downloading the songs from an illegal filesharing website.
