A second death has been linked to an outbreak of hantavirus in Yosemite National Park, park officials announced, as roughly 1,700 people were exposed to the virus. There are two other confirmed cases.

The virus was identified in the Curry Village area in Yosemite, and the park is attempting to contact everyone who lived in the tent cabins in the area since mid-June, park representatives said.

The disease is carried by rodents, most likely deer mice in this case. It incubates for one to six weeks, then causes fever, fatigue and soreness. It is transmitted primarily through inhalation after stirring up the mouse droppings.
