Campers get their own horse for a week and learn responsibilities to care for it. Campers are focused on horses and ride twice each day. English or Western riding style is camper’s choice. A non-competitive Horse Show is held each Friday to show off new skills. Bonding with a horse is important in learning to ride. Sun Pony Ranch teaches about horse behavior and personality to encourage this bonding and to promote safety. Activities include daily riding lessons, including bareback riding sessions, feeding, grooming, tacking and general care of your horse. Shampoo day teaches how to bathe the horse, while Horse Show Day is a non-competitive show for family and friends. Students have fun braiding and decorating their horses for the show. Sun Pony Ranch Horse Camp is co-ed and for ages 8 to 14. Sessions are one week each, from May 30 through Aug. 12, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily. Cost is $380 per week. Register by April 30 for early bird rate of $355 per week.
