Apple’s map woes continue: Australian cops warn against bad directions

Police in southern Australia are asking travelers not to use Apple’s iOS Maps application after multiple drivers have followed the app’s directions and become lost in a national park.

The app sends drivers who want to go to Mildura, Victoria, Australia to the Murray Sunset National Park. Drivers have become lost and stranded there, some for 24 hours, without adequate food and water.

Let’s put this in perspective. It’s about 44 miles, 70 km, from Boulder to the Denver International Airport. The Apple map would put a visitor wanting to catch a flight on Pearl Street — where she could find adequate food and water, if she had the cash, but most likely wouldn’t make her gate on time.
