A winter storm warning is in effect for Boulder County, meaning heavy snow could last through Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory this morning.

The storm, which is expected to dump 10 to 18 inches of snow, caused Boulder Valley School District to close all schools Wednesday.

Midday Wednesday, CU sent a text to students and faculty that classes after 2 p.m. would be canceled and the campus would close.

Parts of the foothills could see up to 24 inches.
