In Tampa, GOP bent over backward to show diversity

The Republican National Convention paraded out every possible minority, as can be expected of any political convention.

But unique to the GOP was the reason, writes Gary Younge in The Nation: In the absence of good policies for women and racial minorities, Republicans have to trot out their minorities instead.

The display wasn’t much in the face of all of the opposition Mitt Romney faces, though. The former governor of Massachusetts is pulling a whopping zero percent of the black vote in a poll before the convention. Among Latinos, only 30 percent like him.
