A bipartisan group of legislators formed to recommend how the state’s congressional district lines should be redrawn will begin gathering public input at a hearing tonight and is scheduled to hold a similar meeting at the University of Colorado Boulder campus on March 15.

The Joint Select Committee on Redistricting will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers of the State Capitol in the first of eight meetings through the end of March.

The committee will also host a hearing from 6 to 9 p.m. on March 15 in CU’s University Memorial Center, Room 235.

Following the census, the legislature is required to redraw the boundaries of Colorado’s congressional districts. The Colorado General Assembly appointed the 10-member committee to evaluate proposed maps for redistricting, to solicit public feedback on the redistricting process, and to make recommendations to the General Assembly on redistricting. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and may testify before the committee.
