A Spice of Life Catering Events has hired Leanne Jewell as banquet manager. Jewell, who will oversee events and staff, has an extensive history working in the restaurant/catering industry and has been planning events for more than 12 years.

“Having been in this industry for a long time and having done all aspects of the job gives me a good beginning to end understanding of the things that need to happen, things that need be improved upon, and all the different elements to this job such as customer service and wait-staffing,” Jewell says.

In addition to working with A Spice of Life, Jewell is a comedian and performs at venues such as the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse in Denver. She also sings professionally in a chorale group, participates in running marathons when she can, and enjoys snowboarding.

“I am a people person, so I love executing events from beginning to end,” she says. “I like it when it’s fast paced: I enjoy working with the staff, I enjoy meeting with our clients. … I really enjoy all of it and I think one of the things that has drawn me into this industry is that I’m not a “sit at the desk” type of person, I’m very active and I get bored very easily. I feel that this is a very good match for me.”

“The experience Leanne brings in venue and event management is next to none,” said Dan Bruckner, A Spice of Life owner and director of operations. “She brings years of knowledge to the table. … The way she does things is different and better than much of what I’ve seen in the industry. She knows the ins and outs of events, even down to the types of linens to use or what kind of table-scape to create based on a client’s personality. … I’m very excited to have her with us.”
