The Art Underground
The Art Underground offers a variety of art, film, dance and theater camps throughout June, July and August. We have camps for children 2 ½ to 18 years old.
Arvada Center Summer Arts Camps
Arvada Center summer camps offer fun and creative experiences in theater, visual arts, dance, ceramics, music, creative writing. storytelling and photography for kids ages 5-18 and ArtStart camps for ages 1 ½-4. All sessions are taught by highly trained, knowledgeable teachers in a safe and fun environment.
Ballet Nouveau Colorado’s Summer Programs
The School of BNC offers summer programs for dancers of all ages, abilities and aspirations. The School of BNC has wonderful programs introducing our youngest dancers into the world of dance — including our ever-popular Fairytale Ballet Camp. The School of BNC also offers unique programs for intermediate and advanced dancers to help them hone their skills and rise to their highest artistic ability. Boulder Dinner Theatre Academy
Drama Camp — Students entering grades six through 12 are invited to participate in an intensive training in the dramatic
arts, with an emphasis on singing, dancing and acting. Academy students
will learn the basics of producing their performance from beginning to
end, including lighting, sound, set design and stage management. BDT
Academy’s Summer Drama Camp sessions are held twice each summer for
three weeks. City Drama Camps — BDT Academy also has summer drama camps
for children ages 5-12 in cooperation with the City of Boulder Parks and
Recreation Department. We offer nine week-long drama camps from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. The camps are held at Salberg Park
at the corner of 19th Street and Elder Avenue. Each week is different
and uses the technique of “playmaking,” which lets the children use
their imagination to adapt a familiar story or write their own script!
Each day consists of script writing or review, drama instruction, set
and costume making, rehearsal and outdoor playtime. There is a lovely
playground/park at the drama camp site that we use for lunch and for

us for fun ages 5-12. Musical theater camp. We sing, dance, act and
make our sets and script. Choose the part you want. Show themes include
Alice in Wonderland, Jungle Book, Grease, Peter Pan and more.
Boulder School of Rock Performance Camp
will co-write an original song, learn two to three cover tunes, and
rehearse, record and perform all songs. Participants also create a band
logo, CD and t-shirt.
Boulder Stars Show Choir
the Boulder Stars Show Choir 2013 Summer Camp (ages 8-14) for a joyful
adventure in singing, dancing and performing Broadway, pop and more!
Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a Friday performance at 5 p.m.
Broomfield School of Rock Performance Camp
will co-write an original song, learn 2-3 cover tunes, and rehearse,
record and perform all songs. Participants also create a band logo, CD
July 22 to Aug. 9, kids ages 10-18 study Shakespeare with CSF
professionals. These students learn about Shakespeare by rehearsing,
staging and performing a shortened play.

Theatre Company is dedicated to extending quality theatre to the
Colorado community, especially in Boulder County. CenterStage provides a
rich atmosphere that leads young people into excellence in the vast
world of theatre arts, thus building confidence, self-esteem, community
awareness and friendships that last a lifetime. This year’s summer
showcase includes production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. Final
performances take place at the Dairy Center for the Arts. Auditions will
be held in May for ages 13-21. These twoweek, full-day camps are for
kids entering fourth to ninth grade in the fall and will end with a

Colorado Music Festival & Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts

Curious New Voices Summer Playwriting Intensive: Building the Next Generation of Great American Playwrights

teach students how to write three to four original songs as a band in

Flying High & Acting Up! Kids Summer Aerial Camp
your child ever dreamed of flying — the amazing freedom, the
weightlessness, the excitement? Join professional teachers of aerials
arts, dance and physical theater for an exciting camp! Students ages
8-16 are invited to Frequent Flyers’ Aerial Dance Studio to have fun
learning skills on trapeze, aerial fabric, hoop, juggling, acrobatics
and so much more. Students will work to combine dance, theater and
improvisation to cultivate the skills necessary to become a performing
artist. We will adapt a myth or legend into a script that will become
the basis of the culminating performance. Help us transform the
equipment into a magical world of flying bodies and soaring spirits!

MACC’s Wolf Theatre Academy
work with theatrical professionals who are experienced in the art of
theatre education. Ageappropriate programming allows younger children to
focus on fun, creation and fantasy, while older students learn the
skills that will enable them to approach both classical and contemporary
material with ease. One- and three-week workshops include technical
apprenticeships, audition techniques and full-day production and
dramatics performance workshops. Raise the curtain on another summer of
theatrical magic at the Wolf Theatre Academy beginning May 31.
Mizel Museum’s Creative Journeys
Journeys amps at the Boulder JCC are oneweek sessions for children in
preschool through fifth grade. Kids take a unique journey with a

active outdoor Renaissance-themed questing games. Solve mysteries and
riddles, brainstorm creative solutions to puzzling dilemmas, swashbuckle
with foam swords, meet interesting characters and negotiate peace
treaties. Birthday parties available as well. For ages 6-16. Dragon Quests
(Full-Day Programs). Dragon Quests are Adventure Quest programs that
last a full day – either from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. These programs are open to kids age 8-16, and have more riddles,
more dueling, more intrigue, and often times, more customization. In
Dragon groups, the Quest Leader gets a chance to connect with the
children in ways that the half-day Griffon Quest Leaders cannot because
of time constraints. Often during the heat of the afternoon, Dragon
groups take a break from questing to play more relaxing games or to dip
their feet in the creek. On Fridays, after the Risen Lands Bazaar,
Dragon groups have the option to play the muchanticipated Ambush Games,
which is a capture-theflag kind of game over the scope of the entire
Quests (Half-Day Programs). These half-day Adventure Quest programs
last either from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
depending upon the site. These quests are open to kids ages 6-16, and
are focused almost exclusively on Adventure Quest. Because there isn’t
enough time in the afternoon to do much questing, the kids really want
to make the most of their mornings, and the Quest Leaders know to pack
in a lot of adventure!
